>The weather is warming up in Nebraska, and March is almost here. March is not only madness in the college basketball world, its also madness in my life! I already have grocery store demo’s, shows, and production days lined up in March, so it’s time for me to get out of winter hybrination and get ready to rumble.
With 2010 in the books, it’s time to focus on 2011. Decisions have to be made about production numbers, product re-pricing, marketing, and sales for the 2011 year. There is no doubt about it, decisions will have to be made on how Ely Farms can most effectively price, market, and sell our products this upcoming year.
I have had some exciting ideas and plans for 2011, and they include:
1) Setting Ely Farms up at an additional Farmers Market. I would like Ely Farms to have a stand at Farmers Markets in both Lincoln and Omaha on Saturday mornings.
2) Promote Ely Farms as an agro-tourism destination in Nebraska. In 2010, Ely Farms had many groups visit the farm and take a tour of our production facility and asparagus and pepper fields, and I would like to be pro-active in getting more groups out to the farm this upcoming year.
The Huskers have a home basketball game against Oklahoma State tonight. Go Big Red! Could a win tonight be the start of a 3 or 4 game winning streak for the Huskers and real March Madness in Nebraska?????
>Check out Ely Farms on Foodzie. Foodzie is an online marketplace where you can discover and buy food directly from small passionate food producers and growers.
>Ely Farms will be at the Omaha Farmers Market in the old market this upcoming Saturday morning (May 15) from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. We will have Ely Farms Fresh Asparagus available, as well as Ely Farms Pickled Asparagus and Ely Farms Pickled Bell Peppers. Stop by and see me at the Ely Farms booth. Hope to see you there!
>My brother and I had the opportunity to present an entrepreneurship workshop to a great group of high school FFA students in Sumner, Nebraska tonight. It is always special when we have the opportunity to present to FFA students. I always see so much potential and desire in FFA students, and they are always respectful. The group never lost focus over the 1 1/2 hour presentation, and were very involved and asked great questions. There was a real desire from the students to listen and learn. The student will continue to have other entrepreneurship workshops as part of a program they are involved with, and I’m sure they will all benefit from these educational opportunities. Best wishes to the students at S-E-M, we wish you continued success as an FFA Chapter, and with your individual SAE Programs.
